Less Tense

03 Jun

the girl is pretty mellow nownot all tucked in tight and scared

Still nameless, but the girl is very much braver.  She purrs even while hiding in the crate.  Once on my lap, she snuggles and does the nose touch, kneads, and is fully affectionate.  Her brother is more reserved, but warms up eventually and purrs.  He relaxes enough to eat while on my lap.

Both finally came out of the carrier on their own, enticed by toys.  They still hiss when I first move towards them, but they’re getting used to the situation.  So far, I’ve just shut myself in the under-table area with them, so the photo with me is obviously a self-portrait, sans flash.  This way, they can’t dash out in a panic and hide somewhere where I’d totally scare them, prying them out.  The girl has started looking interested in the rest of the room, but they won’t be out there for a while yet.

well, you have to figure they regressed with coming here and having a new setting and new person. Apparently they responded well to being held at the shelter, once you got ahold of them.
