The last to lose the umbilical cord was the grey and white, this morning. The cord was as long as the kitten but I haven’t found it yet. They went with me to work yesterday, BART ride and all. They were pretty quiet on the train. They have learned to climb on the carrier door when they wake up. Sometimes I wake them for a meal, if it’s been 3 hours or the timing for the next meal would be awkward. One was very inert when I woke him last night, but he was fine.
The shelter still has not sent me their names. The carrier is labeled G kittens, so they could be gosh, golly, grammercy for all I know. I have home names for them, based on coloring. Greykin is all grey. The grey and white sometimes Gandalf. The black and whites are: Blaze, with a tiny streak of white above his nose; Phantom with a black mask revealing just one side of his lower jaw; and Smudge with a very symmetric trefoil centered on his face and a big black smudge like a half moustache. I’ll get better mug shots eventually. The black and whites are getting some long silvery white hairs highlighting their black backs, like the k kitties from 2013. I am tentatively guessing that Phantom and Greykin are girls.
