Prev. Kittens Adopted; New Ones Playing; Post Title Was Missing

Umbra and Shadow got adopted together today (Friday).

The wine litter is adjusting well.  There are poop issues but they try to use the litter box.  A few more days of meds and we’ll see how their digestion settles down.  Shiraz eats almost as enthusiastically as the others, and everyone eats kibble when there’s nothing better.

Willing Eater

Shiraz now voluntarily eats.

Vetted

Shiraz has been mopey and not wanting to eat.  For the first half of yesterday, I could put food in his mouth and then he’d eat.  By the end of the day, he was just getting annoyed.  I tried some kmr in a dish or a syringe and still no thrill for him: the others thought it was great.  So we all went to the vet today.  He has a possible trace of giardia, could be false positive.  Everyone gets Panacur, Shiraz also gets Azithromycin, Ponazural, and an appetite stimulant, Entyce until he’s happy to eat.  Once a day, no one is thrilled, but they’ll have forgotten before the next dose.

I don’t even know if the two are the same species.  Here’s a good resource for tick id and demographic work.  http://www.tickencounter.org/tick_identification

Tick Talk

I found 2 ticks this morning.  One fat one, just heading off but tangled in kitten fluff, the other flat but more attached inside the ear of green-collared Chablis.  Both ticks are in a jar which is in a plastic bag, awaiting their fate.  Now when anyone scratches, I investigate.  It’s also a good opportunity to use the word ‘formicate’, with an ‘m’ (feeling like insects are crawling on you)..

On a happier note, red-collared Malbec, and now orange Shiraz, are exploring the room.  Tails are high, scamper mode is on.

Introducing the Wine Litter

I think only 3 of the 4 are in the picture: one is smooshed to the left of the scratcher ramp.  They’re not entirely comfortable with people, but not dismayed either.  And they are littermates, so they get along with each othEr.  They’re about 4 weeks old.

Mistaken Return

Now I find out they meant to keep the kittens there because they are shy, to get them used to the shelter.  I prefer getting them used to a home, but they are not mine.  They have been so happy to cuddle and run around–Shadow has been racing after the laser pointer and learning to jump to follow it.

Surprise Return

I thought they were going to someone else after surgery, but nope, and no, they didn’t get adopted this weekend.  So they’re back with me, and the very cleaned room.  I just feel bad that they were alone after surgery.

Also, I guess there already was a “Shadow”: she is renamed “Shadowfax”.  Hard to imagine a kitten less like the proud, brave battle, gleaming white horse, but she can become Shadow again later.
