Some Progress

lookingThe three bigger bigger kittens are playing and acting fine now.  They watch when I feed the litler kittens.  Way in back, on the cushion, poor Binky sits.  He still barfed this afternoon, and his weight really dropped. I came back from a rehearsal and fed everyone, and he ate well, gained back 20 grams, and hasn’t yet puked.  I’m feeding smaller amounts more frequently, to see if that helps.

The O’S get messier.  Opera can do squat–she managed a very tidy poo in the box.  Mostly they poo on each other in bed, and pee on the floor and slip and fall in it.  Orchard got an swollen anal gland, but a warm soak and massage seem to have helped.

The Unfocussed Gaze of Kittens

unfocussed gazeSaying will I ever get another bottle?  They get regular food and a bottle still.  Betty appears to be happy eating anything, without me having to start her.   Bonbon prefers chicken, Binky prefers Science Diet, and big Bono is bottle crazy.  They’re good about using the litter box, although someone peed on a towel last night.

Becoming Cats

in your face

Malibu was washing her paws like a big cat today, but when I got light and a camera it had turned into a pushing match with Melvin.  They mostly use the litter box now, although their squatting skills need improvement.  They also will learn how to step around or over things eventually.  It’s funny when it’s the food dish: they have to walk through it even though they dislike the gooshy feel because they cannot imagine any other way to go.

They had their first vet visit since they were taken in: worming, weighing, and Advantage, although I’ve only found 1 flea, when I first got them.  As it is just the tip of the kitten season, they attracted a crowd of admirers.

The Bigger Space

The Big Viewlike being swallowed by a couch

I moved them to the Under-The-Table space yesterday.  I checked that their heads were too broad to fit through the caging I use across the front of the Under-Table, so I didn’t have to add manila folders across the bottom, and I set up a bunch of stuff they were used to and the lumpy pink bed.  The creases in the lumpy pink bed are perfect for skootching down into, so it looks rather like they’re being swallowed by a couch.  I had the climbing triangle in there, but someone pooped on it.  Much of the time though they find their way clear to the litter box.  They need to learn to leave, not sit down after doing whatever in the box, but they’re learning quickly.

Moose even is willing to eat a little canned food with formula on his own.  Muppet will do a big production of chewing and sometimes swallowing if I put some food in her mouth, but she won’t take more from the dish yet. They’re abut 3.5 weeks old now.
