Saturn After Cassini

Nasa’s adventures with Cassini have not affected  Saturn.  He’s doing better with the meds now and gaining weight again.

 

Repose Pose

Everyone is worn out. They had their 2nd shots today.  Also oral flea meds because I caught 5 tiny fleas on them this morning.

They were wild this afternoon.  They’ve learned to leap on each other, and to spin mid-leap to hit with the hips.  I wasn’t able to catch it on video though.

 

No Floridans

The Florida cats are all settled with other fosters, which is fine.  These guys are having a rowdy good time with an audience of me.

 

Too Bad They’re So Standoffish

 As soon as my friend sat down, the kittens were all over her.

 

Sweet Little Cats

At this point, they’re little cats.  Their skills include water and kibble now.  They will improve on the jumping and get into more things.

Monday, I add in (in a different room) one of the Florida cats.  It will be my first adult foster.

 

Sleeping

The planet kittens are all sleeping well after an early vet trip to get stronger anti-flea protection.  It had to be early because the shelter is getting ready to greet 30 cats and 20 dogs from Broward County, Florida.  The shelter there has worked with Berkeley Humane before.  They wanted to empty the shelter of adoptable pets before hurricane Irma hits, so they’ll have room for rescues.Neptune had trouble picking up the pen, and was trying levitation.

 

Growly Saturn

I brought this stub of a toy out and Saturn was in love and jealous and wanting everyone to see and admire him.  The others didn’t respond to his growling.  The first time I pulled on the toy enough to free it, it zinged away and he was totally befuddled.  He had no idea what happened to it.

They all had shots and worming Friday, and supposedly flea poison.  I have been catching a lot of fleas though, before and after.  We are also still in a heat wave, although it’s a lot less today: it didn’t even reach 90 F.  Someone has been barfing a little and Neptune has lost some weight, so I assume she’s the one.  She’s still perky, so I’ll blame the vet visit or weather for now and keep an eye on her.

 

Low Energy Dining

Saturn has an odd strategy eating: go low, get cozy, just keep sucking.  I’m not sure he’s awake the whole time.Evening shot: he really is asleep this time.

 

Other Toys

I forgot to post this earlier, but this litter enjoys the baby toy that Catherine bought for my fosters.

They had a vet visit and got shots, deworming (just in case, no evidence), and flea poison–plenty of evidence.  No problems.  They’re all weaned and back to gaining weight.  Given the heat wave, I’m not turning on their bed-warmer tonight.
